In my last role caring I worked for IMHA- assisting service users to be their advocate if they felt that they were unable to self advocate or knew somebody to assist them. This role involved working with adult service users who found themselves in a situation where they felt they were unsupported and needed assistance with making their own decisions and achieving their goals. This included helping service users to research and gain access to support services or agencies, help to understand and fill out forms, contact companies or the council, support service users during appeals processes, helping them to budget, assist with disputes or any other daily life issues they found themselves with. Identify and report any safeguarding issues and maintain DPA at all times.
