Carebay FAQ's
No. Carebay is completely free to use. It’s a great opportunity to put your best foot forward and connect with potential clients who are looking to work with carers on a one-to-one basis.
Clients purchase credits to contact you through your Carebay profile. If they choose to reach out, they may contact you via your phone number and/or email address, depending on the contact details you've provided.
No. There’s no need to change anything about your current employment.
You can take on additional work as a self-employed carer while remaining in your existing job. This allows you to earn extra income at times that suit you, working around your current schedule.
This income can also be claimed as part of your self-assessment tax return
You will be paid directly by the client or service user you are working with.
If you work with a client on a regular basis, we recommend agreeing to a weekly payment schedule. This can be arranged via cash, cheque, or BACS transfer directly into your bank account.
Yes, you can use your current DBS certificate — if the client is happy with this.
However, we strongly recommend applying for a new DBS as a freelance carer, to ensure it reflects your current status.
Please visit the Insurance and DBS page on the Carebay website for the quickest and easiest way to apply.
This is entirely up to you. Your earnings will depend on your experience and the level of service you provide to your clients. If you are well-qualified, reliable, honest, punctual, and have strong feedback from clients who have previously used your services, you’ll be more in demand — and therefore better compensated for the high-quality care you deliver.
As a guide, average rates typically range from £10 to £15 per hour, and sometimes more.
You can purchase discounted insurance through the Carebay website. Simply visit the Insurance and DBS page, call the number provided, and quote the caller code to get fully insured at a discounted rate.
This insurance offers comprehensive cover, giving you peace of mind while you deliver high-quality care — knowing that you’re protected.
If you are undertaking personal care, we strongly recommend wearing a uniform. You can purchase Carebay-branded tunics by emailing us — these are priced at £32 each.
ID badges can also be ordered by sending us a photo of yourself holding your identification. In the photo, your face, name, and address must be clearly visible. Once received, we will create your ID badge and send it to you by post.
ID badges cost £15 each and are valid for 1 year. Please note: you will need an ID badge before starting any care work, as clients will regularly ask to see it.
